Fantasy Football 2022 – Waiver Wire Targets for Week 8

Maybe you’ve lost one of your star players to injury? Or maybe your team just needs some extra reinforcement. Whatever it might be, it makes sense to get ahead of your competition and utilise the waiver wire. These are the players you should be targeting in fantasy football ahead of Week 8.

Running back

Latavius Murray, Denver Broncos – Murray has surprised many by taking some work off Melvin Gordon’s plate in Denver. Despite his advanced age, Murray is clearly in favour with the Broncos coaching staff and now has 26 touches in the last two games. With a game against a vulnerable Jaguars run defense on the horizon, Murray could be a smart pickup.

Gus Edwards, Baltimore Ravens – With JK Dobbins back on IR, the Ravens need to find themselves their RB1. If Week 7 is anything to go by, it seems like that replacement is Edwards. Whilst he did share snaps and carries with other backs, Edwards was the clear frontrunner despite it being his first game back from injury. I’d try and get in on him now when the price should be lower

Wide receiver

Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts – Get in on Campbell while you still can. I’m wary of putting too much faith in this Colts offense, but Campbell has clearly established a good working relationship with Matt Ryan. Through the last two games he has earned 23 targets, scoring 41.7 fantasy points in the process. Despite this and his high volume of snaps he is rostered in just 63% of leagues.

Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions – Reynolds had a pretty disappointing outing against the Cowboys, earning just two targets for one catch and eight yards. With that being said, there are some important factors that might make you reconsider picking him up. DJ Chark is on IR and will miss at least three more games. Amon-Ra St Brown left this weekend’s game and could miss time with a concussion. All of this will lead to more targets for Reynolds.

Terrace Marshall, Carolina Panthers – With Christian McCaffrey and Robbie Anderson both no longer in Carolina, things are starting to look a little different on offense for the Panthers. One of the most notable changes has been the expanded role for second-year receiver Marshall. This week against the Buccaneers he played 86% of snaps, the third most amongst Carolina’s skill position players.

Tight end

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints – Johnson had a big performance for the Saints in Week 6. Whilst his 22.7 points was inflated by his two scores against the Cardinals, he has been quietly reliable so far this season. Johnson ranks as the TE12 and is averaging a solid 7.3 points per game. A player like that is worth rostering, especially at tight end!

Will Dissly, Seattle Seahawks – Dissly isn’t exactly lighting the world on fire this season, but he’s been a fairly solid and dependable tight end for the Seahawks, sitting as the TE15 through seven games. Add in the fact that DK Metcalf left this weekend’s game with a leg injury, Dissly could be in line for a greater target share moving forward. The Seahawks also face a run against teams who are struggling to defend against tight ends this year.

Quarterback

Daniel Jones, New York Giants – Get hold of some Daniel Jones shares while you can! Jones has now led this offense to six wins this season, ranking as the QB15 through seven games. Whilst he hasn’t been hitting many heights as a passer, he’s been pretty steady in terms of turnovers, throwing just two picks all season. He has also looked great as a runner. That bodes well for next week’s matchup against the Seahawks.
