Fantasy Football 2023 – Waiver Wire Targets for Week 3

Week 2 is in the books, and it is time to look ahead to the waiver wire. These are the players you should be targeting on waivers ahead of Week 3 to get ahead of your league rivals.

Running back

Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams – If you’re lucky enough to be in one of the 37% of league with Williams on waivers, make sure you target him this week. The former Notre Dame back seems to be Sean McVay’s go-to back at this point. Cam Akers was inactive in Week 2, with reports surfacing that the Rams are trying to trade him. Williams scored 28 points against the 49ers in his absence.

Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts – Moss is another back who cemented his fantasy relevance in Week 2. He now appears to be the Colts’ leading back whilst Jonathan Taylor is out, carrying the ball 18 times for 88 yards against the Texans. If Anthony Richardson misses time you can also expect Moss to see an increase in red zone usage.

Wide receiver

Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams – Puka Nacua was the talk of waivers after Week 1, but Atwell is also worthy of consideration too. He appears to have established a good connection with Matthew Stafford, earning 17 targets through the first two games of the season. Atwell has averaged 16.6 points per game so far this season.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans – Collins is THE guy in Houston. His connection with CJ Stroud has been hugely encouraging through two games and has seen him earn 20 targets. Those have turned into 13 catches for 226 yards. He is still available in 44% of leagues, but this might be the last weekend where he’s easy to acquire.

Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions – It looks like Reynolds has developed into the No. 2 option in Detroit’s high-flying passing game. After earning seven targets in Week 1, he finished with six in Week 2. This turned into five catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns. Through two weeks, Reynolds ranks as WR31, averaging 17.8 points per game.

Tight end

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots – Henry seems to be carving out a key role in the Bill O’Brien Patriots offense. Through two games he has earned 13 targets, resulting in 11 catches for 108 yards. He’s the TE1 in fantasy scoring through Week 2, yet he is still available in over 50% of leagues.

Kylen Granson, Indianapolis Colts – This one is a little riskier, but I think Granson could be a very smart pickup on waivers this week. Through two games he has earned 10 targets. He is being featured far more under Shane Steichen than he ever was under the previous staff, finishing as TE15 in Week 1 and TE9 this week. He’s only rostered in 1% of leagues but I expect that to change soon.

Quarterback

CJ Stroud, Houston Texans – This looks to be a pass-happy offense in Houston this year, with Stroud throwing the ball 91 times through the first two games of the season. He looked much better in Week 2 against a Colts secondary with a bunch of questions. In Week 3 he will go up against a Jaguars defense that also has some legitimate holes. He’s a worthwhile add, especially as he’s available in 74.5% of leagues.
