2020 Fantasy Football Sleepers: Wide Receivers

There is always good value to be found at receiver in the later rounds of fantasy drafts and this year is no different. There has perhaps never been so much quality at the position and as a result there are a bunch of bargain options that can help to separate you from the rest of your league. Here are four of the best sleepers in 2020 fantasy football.

Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Johnson looked legitimately impressive in his rookie season, despite some inconsistent play at quarterback. He led all rookie receivers with 59 receptions and consistently maximised yardage after the catch, with his 18 forced missed tackles tied with Deebo Samuel for the most amongst receivers. With Big Ben back at quarterback the Steelers offense should improve substantially and Johnson should take a big step forward in terms of production. Given his ADP of 9.09 he has the potential to provide fantastic value.

Allen Lazard, Green Bay Packers

Lazard emerged as the Packers’ WR2 midway through last season and looked like one of the few players that had Aaron Rodgers’ trust. Given that the Packers did not invest at receiver this offseason, you can expect Lazard to take on a bigger role in 2020. His 35 receptions ranked fifth on the team, despite his first catch coming in Week 6.  Importantly he still got a decent number of targets after Davante Adams returned from injury. His ADP is currently 14.05 and there aren’t many legitimate WR2 options that you can get this late that guarantee as many targets.

N’Keal Harry, New England Patriots

Given how underwhelming his injury-shortened rookie season was, it is easy to forget that Harry was a first round pick just over a year ago. He is clearly a player with talent and the Patriots have already shown their preference for using him in the red zone. He will benefit from a limited receiving corps and whilst he is unlikely to be a top-tier fantasy receiver, he should provide consistent production. Cam Newton has shown in the past that he likes to work with big-bodied receivers and tight ends and don’t be surprised if Harry has a second-year breakout campaign. With the potential to be the Patriots’ WR1 his ADP of 12.02 is seriously great value.

Laviska Shenault, Jacksonville Jaguars

This is the most boom-or-bust pick on this list but whilst Shenault is certainly high risk, his upside is tremendous. Seen by many as a first round talent prior to the draft, Shenault dropped to the Jags in the second round. He has had issues with injuries but if he can stay on the field, he is certainly worth investing in. At Colorado he played as a receiver, a running back, and even in the wildcat, and if Jags make the most of his versatility he should be getting a lot of touches in 2020. He has the potential to be their WR1 and given that he is often going undrafted in fantasy leagues, he could be a late round bargain.
